Lyme Regis 200 mile motorcycle ride update.

10 bikers on this weeks adventure, with Stu celebrated his big 40 on this day.
The weather was kind, and we took full advantage of it, a full days 200 mile blissful motorbike riding.
Brunch and hour and half in at Haldon Grill Exeter taking all the back roads to get there avoiding any main dual carriageway. After brunch Ian took us on some great roads avoiding the bit of M5 to get us on the coastal roads to Lyme Regis. This place is always a great location to ride too. The holiday makers had gone home and the kids back at school meant a nice chilled walk along the beach. We lounged around Lyme Regis for an hour taking in the great atmosphere eating ice cream and telling stories, people watching, before heading off to find our next coffee stop.
Dave P forgot to put this bit in the navigation system which meant we drifted off course bye about 45 miles lol. Anyways its all part of the training.
With coffee and cake at Bickleigh Mill, the cloud started coming in. Pete decided to pull out the big yellow wet suit, which always makes us laugh:-) and thus started the pulling out of everyones panniers the wet pants.
Steve did a great job of navigating us on some great roads on the way home with some great views across the Devon Moor.
We are joined today bye a new face to Plymouth bikers, Dave on his Honda, Welcome Dave.
Dot really getting used to her new bike, Talk of Graham & Julie getting new wheels.

Helen, Sam & Chris and all the gang always in good spirit.

Upcoming events, achievements, sales and more.

But a great bit of fun to be had.

A snapshot in TIME with the Plymouth Bikers

This Sunday Ride Update. A wet start to the day never stopped 9 bikers taking to the roads, a hour and 20 minutes progressive riding out on some fab tarmac before we hit Lizzy’s Larder deep in Cornwall for a home cooked breakfast.

We picked up Bill and Anne and had a chance to chat to our new guest Yvonne all the way from Wales. Yvonne is a guest of Phill and normal rides horses, so this was a chance to see what it feels like to lean into corners and have total confidence in your rider.

The bikers hit more fantastic cornish roads covering 150 miles in total with navigation from Graham and Julie. Great job Guys.

We headed over into the Devon boarder again, Robin riding his fab looking Ducati built for great tarmac like this never faulted on the lines of these winding Devon and Cornish roads, but the same reliability could not be said for his Trago waterproofs:-)

Dot and Dave taking up role of sweeper and film crew with only one hand held camera today managed to get just a little footage to take a snapshot in Time of the fun we guys have out with the Plymouth Bikers.

Footage taken with one Kodak ZX1 at 1080p 30fps.

Biker social night update

Plymouth-Biker-Social-NightsGreat to see a good group of people enjoying this months social, A really good roast and some good company.
It was a great surprise to see our friend Biker Jo Cameron who arrived with Julie, who kindly pushed Jo in on a wheelchair, Jo who is still recovering after her motorcycle accident was in good spirit and said it was just what she needed a chat with some of her friends.
Her wheelchair needed a bit of maintenance and funny to see 4 fellas holding an array of spanners, It was like something out of the dockyard. ( how many workmen does it take to fix a wheelchair moment )
News that Helen is taking her bike safe this weekend in Exeter, a course highly recommended to any new or returning rider.
Also news that our good friends Rob and Chrissie will be moving away from Plymouth sometime this year and will be sorely missed by me and Dot and many bikers that know them. They have played a massive role in the Plymouth bikers over the last 3.5 years being regulars, ride leaders, sweepers and camera crew and always good company.
We were also joined by Ron, Andy, Rob, Pete, Brian, Chrissie, Philippa, Helen, Dot, and i made the up twelve bikers in all.
Great turn out seeing it was a sunny evening and Paignton bike night was on.
Biker Rob and Chrissie are planning our next level 2 ride out for 14th June and I will email it out once i know the route.

Sunday 24th level 3 Motorbike ride-out

Screen Shot 2015-05-17 at 08.01.45Robin Carr has kindly come forward to navigate us on a fantastic route for the coming Sunday.
“Regarding the route I’m not at all familiar with Woolacombe area so not sure about the roads
a voyage of discovery! Level 3
I have sussed out a little cafe on the Upper Tamar Lake which would accommodate us
small cooked brekkie and drink £4.50.
They open at 10.30 and would like to see us!
The less adventurous riders may like to call it a day here and pick their way back.
We head across country to Torrington. Do the ‘dipper’ road then join A361 to Barnstaple.
Join the A39 out of Barnstaple and quickly take the B3230 via Muddiford to join the A3123
where we head West to Woolacombe via B3343.
Lunch at the Boardwalk Hotel on the seafront. I’ve talked to the car park people and as long
as there aren’t too many bikes we can pull into
a parking place free (just by the barrier). There are seats outside or they would reserve a
table inside if we want. You can Google the menu – a bit pricy but
won’t need much after a cooked brekkie!
Coming back I wondered about the A3123 followed by A399 back to South Molton.
Don’t know the roads so unsure whether they’ll be busy.
Smaller roads we know lead us back – we could either have afternoon tea at Garden Centre Eggesford or
Zukis at Winkleigh?”
P.S Please remember to mark the junctions for your fellow riders.
Also if you know a great route and would like to come forward let me know. you set your own pace, eat and drink at your favourite spots.

Tiger Jo’s Sunday Motorbike ride-out

lynmouthTiger Jo is leading the Plymouth Bikers on a fantastic route this coming sunday 9th November 2014.
Meeting Sainsburies 9am with full tanks leaving by 9:30 for the 180 mile round trip to Lynmouth. Travelling via Yelverton – Mortenhamstead – Exeter, with the 1st stop for coffee & cake at Bickleigh Mill. On to Tiverton & Porlock, arriving in Lynmouth for lunch. Depending on the weather there are several options for the homeward journey & due to the distance and shortened daylight hours this trip will be a level 3 ride, which is explained here.

Ride Level 3 this is covering some distance so we need to be progressive. But as always plenty of time for talk and banter over the coffee and lunch stops. enjoy.
