Sunday Ride-out R U with me.

20 bikers, a great day, great route, great food. Again many roads I’ve not ridden before so a big thank you to Graham & Julie for the navigation.

It was good to have this fun bunch of bikers with me for the 130 mile Sunday ride-out.
Very much missing our friends Chris & Robin who have now left the area after biking with us for 4 years, its weird not to see them out.

Welcome to our new friends who rode with us Chris, Sam, Kay and Michael.

Dot rode pillion while awaiting her awesome masters of torque MT07. You may well see her on it next time, she is always responsible for some great video shots that enable our video diary to be kept updated..

Remember our next ride-out is during the day of Friday August 21st with Rob and Freddie Flinttoff, Lord of the Fries. Details to be confirmed but id like to make a day of it. Meet up in the morning some place, have breakfast, meet up and do a bit of filming with Freddie and Rob, then grab some more nice roads and a coffee stop on the way home.

Also a full day ride out Sunday 23rd August so something to think about.

Tiger Jo’s Sunday Motorbike ride-out

lynmouthTiger Jo is leading the Plymouth Bikers on a fantastic route this coming sunday 9th November 2014.
Meeting Sainsburies 9am with full tanks leaving by 9:30 for the 180 mile round trip to Lynmouth. Travelling via Yelverton – Mortenhamstead – Exeter, with the 1st stop for coffee & cake at Bickleigh Mill. On to Tiverton & Porlock, arriving in Lynmouth for lunch. Depending on the weather there are several options for the homeward journey & due to the distance and shortened daylight hours this trip will be a level 3 ride, which is explained here.

Ride Level 3 this is covering some distance so we need to be progressive. But as always plenty of time for talk and banter over the coffee and lunch stops. enjoy.

Congratulations Dot, who passed her Advanced Motorcycle Test today.

Dot-Passed-IAMCongratulations to biker Dot who passed her advanced motorcycle test today 27th September  2014.

Dot, who rides her Honda NC700s, found her passion for motorcycles about 2 years ago and like most new riders, lacked confidence on corners, overtaking and generally didn’t think far enough ahead. However, after taking on the Skills for Life challenge 3 months ago, and getting one to one motorcycle training from the volunteer observers from Plymouth Advanced Motorcycle Club, her riding skills and confidence rose to a new level, enabling her to not only take, but pass her Advanced Motorcycle Test.

Many thanks to her observer, Jerry Rogers, for his patient tuition, Glenn Lewis, who did her X Check, examiner Gregg Jarrett and to her fellow riders in PAMs and The Plymouth Bikers for support and encouragement in her ongoing riding skills development.

Dot said “I would recommend the Skills For Life course to any rider looking to hone their skills. It’s such a buzz when you get it right and the ride just flows”.
She is looking forward to the presentation of the Plymouth Biker Tarnished Cup of achievement!

Weymouth bank holiday Sunday

We will put in play our navigator sweeper system from Honiton to avoid losing any bikers along the way.

Meeting Sainsbury’s car park. PLEASE NOTE: an alternative 10am leaving 10.30 as per normal for those that don’t fancy Weymouth.

P.S don’t forget to get your places for wheelie school June 28th :-))

Skills for Life – Plymouth Advanced Motorcyclists

imageTake your riding to a new level. Biker Dave Prout recommends Skills for Life training. As a keen biker, I am always developing my skills and taking the Skills for Life course with the Institute of Advanced Motorcyclists was truly one of the best things I have done. I highly recommend this course to any serious biker. A passion for riding is a wonderful thing. Whether you’ve always had it, you’ve rediscovered it, or you’re new to it, that passion is something to be embraced. click on images right & left for more info.

Advanced Riding is about taking that next step. Whether it’s about challenging your own standards or reassuring a loved one who struggles to share your enthusiasm, our Skill for Life programme can make you a better rider.

The programme teaches five phases of advanced driving; information, position, speed, gear and acceleration, so regardless of whether you’re navigating country lanes, busy I.A.M£149roads, or tackling the challenging British weather, you have the skills and knowledge to remain confident and in control. Safety is part of the advanced riding programme, but it also encourages you to feel confident on the road, to make good progress, and to get even greater enjoyment from the experience.
